REALITY CHECK
Traveling with OVEREX is a shared experience that requires collaboration and the same level of respect and consideration as traveling with friends. This brief overview highlights that joining an OVEREX expedition comes with a substantial degree of personal responsibility, ensuring everyone’s experience is enjoyable and safe.
RISKS

Travelers must understand that participating in a group trip, off-road expedition, or even a solo adventure comes with its share of unforeseen challenges. These may include adverse weather, political instability, health issues, wildlife encounters, or physical impairments affecting you or fellow travelers, which could require adjustments to the travel plans or, in extreme cases, the cancellation of the tour.
In many of the countries we visit, emergency services and medical facilities can be far more limited outside major cities compared to what is available in Western countries. Therefore, it’s essential to recognize that our expeditions involve a certain level of personal risk and can present unpredictable, sometimes hazardous situations.
ADVENTURE TRAVEL

Adventure travel inherently involves risks and uncertainties, stemming from both external factors and individual actions. With this introduction, we aim to make it clear that embarking on an OVEREX expedition means facing these challenges head-on. Participants should be ready to take on shared responsibilities, including meal preparation, vehicle maintenance, and other tasks essential to the success of the journey.
The countries we visit often have lifestyles and expectations that differ significantly from those in developed nations. As a result, situations may arise that require patience, flexibility, and understanding from you, the traveler. Health and safety standards, as well as operational conditions—particularly in hotels and local transport—can be unpredictable and are often not up to the standards you might expect in Western countries.
ACCOMODATION

During our expeditions, we prioritize staying in locally owned and operated accommodations when we take regular breaks from our rooftop tents. While we carefully select these accommodations, it's important to understand that health and safety regulations in the countries we travel through may not align with Western standards. Therefore, this is far from a 5-star luxury holiday experience.
Luxury and comfort are not the primary focus of our expeditions. Instead, we offer authentic, immersive experiences that connect you with local cultures, nature, and environments—true to our motto: "MAKE LIFE AN ADVENTURE."
ITINERARIES

Our philosophy prioritizes quality over quantity, meaning that the details of the tour serve as a guideline rather than a rigid itinerary. The tour guide may make adjustments as needed to ensure a safe, enjoyable, and enriching experience for all participants. As travelers, we are guests in the countries we visit, and we are dedicated to respecting local customs, traditions, and practices while providing an active, immersive adventure experience.
ROADS

In many of the countries we explore, road conditions and transport regulations may not meet the standards of more developed Western nations. Roads can be riddled with potholes, unmarked speed bumps, and a lack of warning signs or road markings. Additionally, other road users are often in poorly maintained or poorly driven vehicles. This is part of what makes overlanding so appealing to us—our preference is to drive off-road, on dirt roads, or unmarked tracks, as these routes often prove to be safer and less stressful.
INSURANCE

Travel insurance is mandatory for all Overex expeditions. When choosing your policy, make sure it is specifically designed for adventure and overland travel. It should cover all the activities you plan to participate in, such as white-water rafting, bungee jumping, trekking, horse riding, and more. At a minimum, your policy should cover essential medical and repatriation costs. While more affordable insurance options may be available, it's important to thoroughly check which activities are covered—and just as importantly, what is excluded. Your safety and enjoyment are our top priorities, which is why we are happy to refer you to a trusted adventure travel insurance provider.
