ANTARTICA
ANTARCTIC EXPEDITIONS
OVEREX is proud to announce that we have partnered with Polar Latitudes Expeditions and are now able to offer amazing expeditions to the 7th Continent.
Polar Latitudes is one of the few operators that require all operational staff to be certified as crew under the International Maritime Organization’s STCW standards.
The PL team is put together with World-class marine biologists, environmental scientists, ornithologists, and modern-day explorers are all members of our expedition team – highly experienced, synced to your needs and interests, and with safety always top of mind. Most of us voyage together year after year; all share a deep love for all things polar; and we all take immense pleasure in making your trip one you’ll never forget.
Polar Latitudes was the first polar operator to adopt the Polar Tourism Guides Association (PTGA) guide qualification framework, a world first in training and certifying polar guides in the skills and experience required for our unique industry, and we continue this discipline as Polar Latitudes Expeditions. Read more about why you should consider choosing PTGA-accredited guides here.
Polar Latitudes stands out in a crowded field
Though winning awards was never a goal we ever set for ourselves, it’s nice when it happens, as it tells us we’re doing something right – something that people notice and appreciate, something that sets us apart. So, we’re always grateful for that. Here are recent awards won by Polar Latitudes and Albatros Expeditions.

MEET THE FLEET
The Polar Latitudes Expedition fleet now includes the Seaventure, Ocean Albatros, Ocean Victory, and Ocean Nova. While the ships differ in many ways (giving you more options, from rooms to amenities), they all share a number of features – first and foremost, prioritizing your Polar engagement above all else. All four ships offer a decidedly small ship experience, with never more than 180 passengers on board. This means quick, safe Zodiac boarding, personalized attention from our expedition and photography teams, and feeling like you’re part of a team, not just another face in the passenger crowd. Our ships are purpose-built for the polar regions, with exceptionally high ice ratings that enable safe access to places that would simply say “no” to lesser ships. They are designed to keep the spectacular outside environment in clear view at all times, with multiple outdoor decks and 180 views in our presentation rooms. And collectively, our fleet is one of the most fuel-efficient in the industry, just one of the many ways we “walk the talk” of caring for these fragile environments.
MS Seaventure
A small but mighty ship, built to take you where lesser ships can't.
Ocean Victory
A thoroughly modern ship, built for the Polar Regions. The sister ship of Ocean Albertros.

The Last Wild Place on Earth
Explore our small ship expeditions to Antarctica, designed to engage your heart, mind, and spirit as you travel into one of the coldest – and most life-affirming – places on Earth! Antarctica is located at the southernmost point of the Earth and holds the titles of the highest, driest, and coldest continent. Our expedition cruises in the Antarctic region include journeys to the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, South Shetland Islands, and the Antarctic Peninsula.
Endlessly Surprising
- Antarctica holds around 90% of the world’s surface fresh water. And around 98% of the continent is covered in ice that’s up to 5km (3.1mile) thick.
- Antarctica also boasts the world’s largest desert. The Antarctic Polar Desert covers 5.5 million square miles.
- Antarctica is fringed by ice shelves, extending hundreds of miles offshore. The largest is the Ross Sea ice shelf, covering more than 510,000 square km; roughly the size of France!
- Antarctica was the last of Earth’s continents to be discovered in 1820, although there have been many less-reliable claims of prior discovery.
- Mount Erebus is the southernmost active volcano in the world, and the second-highest mountain in Antarctica. Despite the cold it has a lava lake in its inner summit crater.
Destinations Within Antarctica
Antarctic Peninsula
Penguins, whales, and icebergs – just for starters. This rugged, icy region is one of the most biologically diverse parts of Antarctica.
South Shetland Islands
These Islands have a geography that is both rugged and diverse shaped by glaciers, volcanic activity and the harsh Southern Ocean.
South Georgia
Reserved for scientific research and wildlife, South Georgia is not only home to staggering natural beauty, but also holds some of the greatest concentrations of wildlife on the planet.
The Falkland Islands
The Falkland Islands are one of the most remote and least densely populated places on Earth, with only 3000 residents, the majority on East Falkland.
